The bubbles will go away normally after a week or so as stated above. What kind of skimmer is it? Do you have a sump?

And that is not good as the micro bubbles cause alot of problems with the fish' gills. Does the skimmer have a knob on it where you can adjust the flow or air?

With a new skimmer you have to play around with it a little. Turn it down and as it starts to collect foam you can slowly turn it up. All new skimmers do that.

Alot Of The Skimmers Have A Venturi Valve Which You Can Close ,so That You Can Eliminate The Bubbles.you Have To Find The"happy Median" Where The Amount Of Air Coming In Creates Enough Bubbles In The Enclosed Cylinder So That The Skimmer Can Work Efficiently In Extracting Ammonia.if Air Adjusted Too High, not Enough Inner Bubbles In Collection Cup And More Bubbles Being Released Back In Tank.if Air Adjusted Too Low-constant Flow Of Water Back To Tank-minimal Bubbles, not Much In Waste In Collection Cup.hope This Helps.

Skimmers don't remove ammonia they remove desolved organics. Biological filtration breaks down ammonia.

I know exactly what he/she is talking about..new skimmers do that, they will also over flow..keep an eye on it. Mine wasn't producing enough micro bubbles in the chamber, so I turned it up..in the the matter of two seconds that water came up over the top and down the back of my tank to the floor..scared the daylights out of me. I almost thru it away I was so mad..what I did was take it out and put it in a bucket and then adjusted it that way..it took a couple of tries before I got it right were I wanted it..now mine spits micro bubbles out the side of the pump motor..which I had to fix with rubber bands..I'm going to upgrade when I get the money together, it never worked right from day one, the motor flops around, like it dosen't fit right. Bought online NO returns!

Instructions are usually optional and from all the posts I see onthis forum and others it seems most folks opt out from purchasing the instructions, and would rather complain about a product instead of doing a biut of reading on their own part and explain what their problem is in full including skimmer brands. Oh and on lots of those so called cheap wanna be skimmers the ability to make micro bubbles is included at no additional cost. Its usually micro bubbles or no foam, take your pick......and then go buy a decent skimmer.

I have prizm too and i hate it, way to noisy. you can turn it down to control the bubbles. it works but i don't think its all that good of a skimmer. I'm in the process of finding a new one that is not so noisy and will work better.

...of coarse I read the instructions they don't tell you everything to expect.....their Idea of troubleshooting is "make sure your PS is plugged in" I even tried to read them in french and spanish thinking they might have given them more instructions.

The prizm skimmer will require constant attention to eliminate the micro bubbles and has nothing to do with the break in period...It is just that skimmer....It is a PITA and needs the constant adjustment to make the thing skim properly and all the time....

Sorry forgot, but the microbubbles are coming from having it turned to high as mentioned.....turn it down a bit.

I have a D&D Marine Typhoon skimmer that i love. It performs great, is easy to clean, not too noisy, and the output goes into an old milk jug, no collection cup. Just thought I'd share
