protien skimming

I just purchased a counter current protein skimmer. Just wondering how long per day i should leave it on. I think it works cause i got some nasty green stuff in the cup.

i run mine 24/7 the only time i turn it off is to feed plankton for an hour

24/7 365....no reason to turn it off.
besides removing organic materials, its also areating your water.
Kinda funny really, protien skimmer is a misnomer for a device which really doesn't remove proteins, its actually called a foam fractionator
If its pulling nasty green stuff then its prolly working.
