i just bought a prizm protine skimmer and set it up and no water goes into the thing it just makes noise and stuff but no water is drawn into the skimmer

Pinch off the air hose until the pump draws water into the holding chamber. You may need to fill it a little to get it started. HTH

You should control the intake by opening or closing the valve (the black thingy that turns on the intake tube). You want the bubbles to just barely be coming into the collection cup. Since it is new it will require constant adjusting and emptying of the collection cup because it will invariably fill with water a few times before it settles down and organic matter starts to build on the inside. Once it starts working though it is awesome IMO. I think that it is the easiest and most effective hang on skimmer. Good luck with it :)
