pschysophrenic skimmer

ok so i cannot spell, but the real problem is my skimmer. after weeks of experimentation i FINALLY get it working perfect...about one week cycle time to fill up with green scum. then i take a week vacation, hire a housesitter, and when i come back, the thing fills nearly immediately.
what could have happened during my absence to cause this? i did a water change immediately before leaving and the housesitter did nothing but feed fish and replenish lost water.
ideas????

It would really be informative if there was a brand and model connected to said sick skimmer. If its a seaclown or jebo, it may be best to put it down and have a burial for it! ;-)

i bought it from Catalina...I will admit its not professional grade but it worked great before. my challenge is always regulating the air intake. Originally it would not work at all so I raised it on a small platform within the fuge. Then it worked great. Now, if I allow the air intake hose to rise above the water line, it fills up immediately. It produces great bubbles so I think its just a matter of fine tuning...

Catalina Aquatics?
IMHO you would be better off with a Seaclown.

The updated seaclone are very nice. Air tight seal with O-ring on collection cup, Air inlet before pump, etc. Not even close to the same skimmer of the old ones. The price is a lot higher too.
