Psuedochromis-Basslet

If I want to add a Royal Gramma and a Fridmani Psuedochromis sometime in the near future, should I add them together. Somewhere I thought I read that they were related closely enough that they need to be added at the same time. Any truth? Or can I get one first, then the other?

If you're in doubt just add them together to avoid any possible conflict. Individual fish are different so some may be ok some may claim a rock hole and act a little aggressive toward intruders. Adding them both at the same time would probably be best.
Or, if anything I'd add the R.Gramma first then the Fridmani Pseudochromis, I think the Frid is the more aggressive of the two.

good luck with that. hope you have a huge tank with tons of rocks. A dottyback is not going to tolerate a royal gramma or simular shaped basset.

ya i agree...I added a dottyback and already had a damsel in the tank. The damsel went nuts, trying to be aggressive the dottyback put him in his place. The Damsel ended up losing his tail in the battle, but it had fully healed. There relationship now is fine they don't go at eachother anymore, unless 1 gets closer to the other

we had a wild caught neon psuedo that could have survived anything. He killed more fish than we could count. Talking double digit kills.

i agree with all. i always had problems with the basslets and pseudos as far as aggression goes.

If your tank isn't pretty big, I wouldn't attempt this.
These are two of those fish (grammas, dottybacks, pseudos) that could work out ok for you, or go really, really badly.
Make sure you have plenty of holes, and hopefully a bigger 'boss fish' already in the tank that will keep them both in line.
Be ready to bail one fish out if this goes badly.

Thanks for the input everyone! So, my next question has to do with bristle worms. I also read somewhere that the psuedochromis is good at hunting these things down. I haven't found any in my tank, but it would be nice to know that something will eat them since I'm sure they are there somewhere. Will a Gramma do the same?

if you ever have a problem concerning fish compatibility. there is a thread titled "Marine Compatibility Chart". Copy that and paste it into the search box.

yes, both of those fish will eat small bristleworms, as will most wrasses. btw- i wouldn't find something to kill bristleworms, i'd welcome them as a free cleanup crew. they don't hurt anything.
