below is a picture of the skimmer i plan on getting for my 90g wit 30g sump. but the problem is i dont have alot of room under my stand. i think it is jsut called super skimmer...
so my question is...
1. is this a good skimmer?
2. i run the water in my sump about 8-10" high, would i be able to do this still with this skimmer? what is the min/max water levels for this skimmer?
thanks

and if this isnt a good skimmer for me, what is? the reason i like it is because it can be ran in sump or out of the sump, so if i cant fit it under my stand i will put it outside my stand and raise it higher then the sump and run flextube and a submersable pump. i also like the price, i dont want to go tooooooooooooooooooo much higher....
thanks again!

i have one on my 75 fowlr it runs on the catalina 2200 (not 1800) and i like it, 8-10 inches would mean you would have to raise it up 4-5 inches(just put it on a couple small bricks) if you can get the one with the mag i would get it only because i know they are reliable and dont know how reliable the catalina pump is yet. if you have a space issue the aqua c remora pro also works great i have it haging on my fuge on my 90 reef so the only space in the fuge is the mag pump i think they both would work for your size tank

hey, im sorry i didnt see your post.. so do you want to get a etss reef devil? is that the question?
if so any etss operates the best at a 5-6 inch water level in our outside the sump, if you run out of sump like me you have to design your sump chamber to have a constant 5-6 inches in that chamber so you dont have to adjust it all the time which is very easy since then you just plug it in and let it go..
so basicalyl as logn as your runnign it 5-6 inches and never let it go under your fine.. over the 6 inch limit isnt a problem
any questions or whatever i missded just ask away

im talking about the eets super skimmer. not the deluxe one. is this one good? im going to try and redo my rufuge so im able to run my water level lower then 10" that way i wont have to raise the skimmer up because i dont have alot of room in the sump to be doing that...
so basically,
is the reef devil super skimmer good or should i really just get teh deluxe one.
is there any skimmer that is better for around the price of the super skimmer?
and if the water is 10" in the sump, i would need to raise the skimmer up?
THANKS ALOT for the help psu!

ya thats the reef devil..IMO i dont think there is a skimmer better than an ETSS , obviously the bigger the better when ti comes ot skimmers but that skimmer IMHO is better than 99% of larger skimmers ont he market evan! it is very compact to so you should be able to fit it no problem..
like is aid you want an optimal 6 inch levelf or etss but witht he reef evil it wont matter as much since it will be in sump, or out..

peckhead...I have been looking at these skimmers also. If I were you I would get the deluxe, main reason is that the skimmer cup is already drilled and fitted with a drain for a gallon jug or whatever u want to use. That cup will fill quickly without a drain.

I agree with PSUSocr. ETSS skimmers are my favorite BY FAR! I ran one on my 75 (the one you are looking at) and I run one on my 210 now. I get so much production out of it; it's great!
I like the Catalina pump it comes with. I ran that skimmer for 2 years on my 75 and never had any issues with that pump.
Now that I have my 210 with a bigger ETSS though, I use an external pump.

I went to the etss site and now the deluxe comes with a ca 2200 instead of 1800. They claim a 20% increase in skimming power and now rate this skimmer for up to 200 gallons of sps quality water.
I saw a video online for the reef devil and I think it will be fine on my 180. The coralife I have is just overtaxed by my system.

i would get the deluxe but im scared it wont fit under my tank! i have 25" under my stand about, and the skimmer is 24"! if i had to raise it up or anything, that would only be problems cause there is no room to raise. is the deluxe going to do anyting the regular one isnt?
and thanks everyone for that help and replies!

hey lion,
im glad someone can share the amazing experience with an ETSS.. you really candescribe it until you see one in action..
peckhead,,
i may have said this or not but the bigger the skimmer is always better as ims ure you know but i wouldnt worry about it too much in your case, unless you want to keep an sps tank.. i went WAY overkill and got the 800 because i NEVER EVER have to worry about having a single level in my tank.. i am aslo trying to suck all the nutrients out of my tank to the point where i beleive the japanese are starving their sps corals of most nutrients so that the color and growth are better..i read a pretty extensive article ont his so im trying to duplicate it..
