Parted ways with my panther grouper and p. puffer
, have left a 8 inch v. lion, mexican dragon eel, goldentail eel and a 5 inch clown trigger on the way in a 100g. Looking for one more fish that would add some color to tank. Any suggestions? Another trigger maybe? Oh yeah, has to be bigger than my eel's mouth (made quick work of a couple damsels).

A clown trigger with a lion is a dead lion waiting to happen; sorry to be so negative. Sometimes CTs can play nice for a long time; but sooner or later. they turn into extremely aggressive fish that find a lions fins irresistible. (IME & IMO, one of the most aggressive fish we commonly keep.) Once they start on the fins, the lion stresses and the trigger will finish him off.

News to me. Damn LFS didn't inform me of the fact.
Its a shame; most LFS used to be great sources of info. Now, IMO, with all the online competition, most just want to make the sale.....or have employees who just don't know.

Eventually an emperor angel will outgrow a 100gal. But it won't happen overnight.

When I upgraded from 45g to 100g, I thought I would be done, BUT, just purchased 180g that i will be setting up later on this year.

alot of truth to that, I have never been able to keep one long term. They are fairly sensitive fish, but once established they do well.
The clown trigger is not a good idea, as stated above they become very aggressive as they grow. Having a lion limits your possible tankmates, including most triggers and puffers. I keep a blue jaw trigger with my lions, and although many people steer clear of triggers all together I have never had an issue with blue jaws.
Tangs make good tank mates for lions, but I would hold off on them till you set up the 180, a tusk is also and excellent choice. For now you lion will be pushing the bioload in a 100 when it is fully grown, which will be less than a year from where you are now.

IMO, not really that tough. They need a mature tank, plenty of room, pristine water, and a varied diet with lots of greens & added vitamins. Adults (of all large angel species) are more difficult to acclimate than juvis; I assume its because adults have established a diet that could be hard to duplicate and they don't eat well. Juvis usually eat almost anything; and I think the experience of raising a large Angel from juvi to adult is amazing.
