Hey guys, i found this site just a couple of days ago and i was so pleased to find it.
my qustion is we have a large community tank and we have one very freindly Porcupine Puffer, he is about 4-5ins long, i was woundering what would happen if i got another Porcupine Puffer from the cite; because the tank is for liitle kids to look at and the puffer seems to be the bravest fish and swim around when there are people near the tank. We also have a nice sized clowen trigger, 2 yellow tangs (one just died and we are in the prosces odf getting another.) 2 Percula Clown fish (you get a kick on how the third died, we had just fixed the 2nd filter on the tank and go water flow back in the tank, a few weeks later the clown tried to "escape through the filter", he got stuck in the hoseing during the night and i found him the next day hoping he was til alive unfortunalty not.) whatlooks like a Black Angel and 2 cute little blue fish that we have no idea what they are (thankz to the man that set up our tank back in aug 03) 1 Chocolate Chip Star and maybe our featherduster are growing back (if thats possible). If you could think of some good fish or inverts we could add it would be great.

Hi, Welcome to the boards! Well first you should measure your tank, and make sure it's a 400 gal. if it is, then I would say another puffer is fine, and if you aren't scared of getting venomous fish, I would say getting a red or black volitan lionfish. They have crazy antics, and are sooo beautiful. If this is not a reef, Also I would recommend an tessalated eel, or a golden moray eel. They are also cool, you just can't put your hands in the tank, or net the venomous fish in a corner, if you do. Also, I really like threadfin butterfly fish, as they are also neat. Also streamer naso tangs are cool. And my absolute favorite is the emerator angel or majestic angel or queen angel. Thats a list that I recommend choosing from, but just get to know the different species of fish, and choose yourself. I think your ok to get like 3 more big fish from the list above. If you do get the big fish, however, they will most likely eat your blue damsels, or your "little blue fish". As for inverts, with the eels, and puffers and lionfish mentioned, all eat inverts. About the only inverts I think your safe with are tiger cowry's and starfish, and snails, and BIG hermits. Good luck deciding, and have fun!:happyfish

2 puffers will be fine. My friend has 2 puffers that are 8 inches long in a 45 gallon! I know VERY small tank for the 2 but they are happy as a pig in mud.. make sure u have the room for fast growth between the 2 because they will compete to see who can grow the fastest... good luck
PS.. dont buy another yellow tang.. it will surely die...
they dont like eachother if only 2 and small tank

Dont get a tesseleta eel unless u want yer fish to start getting eaten. Vicious creatures they are, and they grow to be dam near 6 feet long:eek: Another porky would be super as long as the tank is large enough, and even so, porks are usually calm enough towards creatures their size. I know its not a reef cuz porks arent reef safe at all. Yer little blue fish are probably damsels, and yes, a lionfish would be totally sweet, except for the fact that most of the other fish in yer tank have a good chanve of getting eaten by it. Porks are usually brave, mostly cuz they figure out who the conductor of the gravy train is very quickly, so they are expecting food wen someone comes to the glass. If you get a small enough volitan, let it grow with yer fish, and make sure there are places to hide for the other fish, and that they cannot fit in its mouth, they are very mellow too. Never attack anything that wont fit in its mouth. So, go ahead, get another porkmeister if u wanna. Please though, Id LOVE a pic of the tank!!:D

Hey i'll get a pic of the tank up as soon as i can. just got to find a camra to do that with.... our tank used to have a small Volitan Lionfish in the tank and it was fine with all the other fish it even shared its small cave with the angle. But i don't know why it died, i wasn't around during that time (i was up at school). Right now i think were going to be getting in our tank, 1 more yellow tang, maybe 2-3 Lunare Wrasse and hopefully another puffer. tomorrow or Monday i iwill find out how big the tank is really.

If it is like a 180 or larger, than yes, u can add another tang, If not, then it might be alittle risky, unless u arrange the rocks on different sides of the tank so they can establish their territories away from each other. I would recommend like a sapo puffer. They are really cool, different, and just as friendly as a pork.

They have had little to none fish die. I read two, and nothing to do with a puffer. If his tank is that large, then another pork wouldnt be a problem at all, so lay off.

The tank or lagoon better descibes the tank is 7feet, by 6feet, by 1.5 feet. I need to calculate on how many gallons fits in there (thats the water level top 1.5 feet.) Monday i will have some pics up casue i'm gonna borrow a friends digcamra to show you the tank. And i will see about getting the web cam back up and running so i can put the link up here so you can see the tank live.

:happyfish Hey chandler
like all eels they get long. If you get big fish, and you feed it good, I've heard their ok. A tank that size can support a eel that size, I would just trade it in when it got too big. I wanna get an eel, but I have too small of a tank. I wish I had a 400 gal. I wonder if it really is a 400? Ya not getting an eel would be playing it safe with a newbe, your probably right THIS TIME.:D . -ali
