Puffer sucked into powerhead...

A few days ago my puffer passed away. I came home from work and he was sucked onto the intake of my HOB filter. Who knows how long he had been there. This time he could no longer fight. He was so thin and sick I am sure. He will be missed and remembered for a long time.

structure some rocks around the intake.. not so much that it restricts flow, but enought that he cant get so close

Ya I will have to do that next time if I get another puffer, for now though it's too late.

I put sponges on my powerheads and am noticing they are starting to get dirty. I guess its helping filter the water...but should I remove and clean them off every now and then or are they ok as is?
You can rinse them whenever they get dirty.

Thanks, ya it's pretty sad. At least now though he is not suffering anymore.
