do porcupine puffers grow really fast, are they hardy? are they overall a good addition????

Fairly fast, but others grow faster. They are hardy. Good addition comes with conditions...depends on your tank size and tank mates.

i have a 56 gallon. i have on snowflake eel- about 7-8 inches. the puffer i might buy is about 5 inches. do you think the puffer will try and eat the eel?? are puffers aggressive??

I would not put a porcupine...especially not a 5" porcupine in that size tank. Not much time before this fish is too large for your tank...could be a matter of months. The fish will become cramped and the bioload will likely become too much. Porcs can be aggressive, would it attack the eel...mine attacks other fish that get in the way or eat what it thinks is its food, so yes the possibility is there. Upgrade before you go for a "big" puffer. Your tank is a candidate for one of the toby puffers. You probably don't want to get any fish that max out much more than that 5" mark IMO. Porcupine has the potential to get to the 20" mark.

Yeah a toby puffer such as a valentini puffer...
or a dwarf lionfish are compatible with your eel...
