Ok, i already know I'm gonna get flamed for this one,
so here,

I've been flamed, so leave me alone.
ANYWAY
I was at LFS today and saw a tank full of dwarf puffers, a freshwater fish from Japan, they look like any other puffers only they are really tiny and mean as hell.
I'm gonna get a 5 gallon and put 3 or 4 in it.

My brother did a 10 gal with some of those. They were sold to him as brackish, and some made the trip to full salt. It was more of an experiment than anything. Cool fish though.

I won't flame you... only because I've had these cute little guys in the past and absolutely loved them. They are fascinating and I used to watch them for hours. I had some just starve themselves for no apparent reason and die. That was the only drawback.
They are NOTORIUS fin nippers so watch it with other fish. Also, they are quite territorial and don't tolerate each other well.

aww they don't like each other? I was going to get 2 or three.
Do you think it might work if I (since its freshwater) get each one like a little castle that they sell for FW setups? Do you think they would find their own place?

I had 5 in a 29 gallon and they would get pissed if another went into the other's territory.

they are cool little fish, and will do very well if you set-up a tank speficially for them. I would upgrade the 5 gallon to a 10 gallon though, to give them a little more room to call their own.
However, it depends on what species of puffer that is, but most "fresh water" puffers, are brackish. I have seen some make the full trip to salt as well.

I used to have a green puffer, but he died... Im getting 2-3 of them. The fw lfc has them and they dont fight in their tanks. They just swim back and fourt across the glass.

I wonder if I could acclimate one to salt and put it in a reef tank? Does anybody think it would work???

Thats what I thought but I'm thinking about getting one of those puffers and see if it eats ghost shrimp if it does then I will just put him in my 10 gal. saltwater tank.

I dont think you will ever find a ghost shrimp that is small enough for them to eat. They will probably just gang up on one and tear it apart. Yes, they can be acclimated slowly to full salt. If you read the second post on the thread I explained that some actually made it.

Yeah I think I'm just gonna aclimate him to salt and put him in my 10g.
