Heres mine. i have it under MH in DT and PC in my nano. Not sure you need a whole rock of them, they spread very quickly. I feed mine rotifers, cyclops, and oyster eggs. Pretty easy coral to keep imo.

Nice pic... so theyre filter feeders as well? do they need both filterfeeder food AND light?
if so how often do you feed?

Xenia are one of my favorite corals I have had mine for about 3 months, first pic is about 2 weeks after I got it (11-1-06) and second pic is from yesterday (1-5-07) and there is also another piece of it below the picture that lacerated off of the main colony. Under MH they grow very fast the LFS still has a couple of the frags from when I bought mine and they are smaller than the first picture and are kept under PC lights. So plan accordingly so that they don't overrun anything around them. Also as you can see aptasia don't seem to bother them at all so they are fairly tough.
I believe the minimum requirements are low - medium flow, and medium light.

Wow... thats beautiful,
im DEFINITELY going tommorrow to get mine.
i see 1 aptasia that comes out on my rock where my green fuzzy mushrooms are on... the mushroom over it like expands around it you can see were it stings it... how do i get rid of it? ive tried to pluck it with tweezers but its too fast and retracts as soon as i touch it.
back to the xenia... how often do i feed it? ty

Inject Lemon Juice or Boiling water from a syringe into it

I didn't have any luck with the lemon juice, and the calcium chloride worked but it took my calcium level through the roof. I am currently trying "blue life aiptasia control" and it seems to be working really well even on the large aiptasia in my tank.
As far as feeding it from what I have read they do not require feeding and recieve almost all if not all of there nutrients from photosynthesis, but may also absorb some nutrients out of the water.
man, that is a serious aptasia problem
Don't ever let your wife talk you into leaving them alone because they are cute, the aiptasia in my tank went from 6 or so that were in my tank for amost a year to 300+ in 4 months.

The ones at my lfs under pc's haven't grown at all and are still smaller than my first pic and they all started out the same size, other than that they look okay. I think they will be okay under pc's but will not grow and thrive as quickly as they would under MH.

these corals are very easy to keep but keep in mind they do grow really fast! these corals will do fine under pc lighting. i dont think they need direct feeding as they are filter feeders. From several lfs and sites id recomend to dose iodine in the tank when u have this.
first week purchased:

about 5 heads
over a month's time:
about 8+ heads. hard to tell but theres more behinde the rock!

These are 2 different species just as a note. The one with the longer limbs still pulsate but not like the shorter ones. I have both in my tank, well actually I have 3 kind and my favorite ones are the smaller limbed ones because they pulse like mad.

feeding xenia is completely uneeded, they are about as close as it comes to completly photo dependant as corals get, (i'm not saying they wont benifit from feeding) but lighting and flow is more important, medium to high flow and they can tolerate almost anylighting conditions as long as its direct they do best in high light. they do not tolerate unstable water conditions well. parameter swings are hard on them, they can adjust to most conditions as long as there are no sudden changes. and they sure do multiply like weeds.
