pulsing Xenia

hello, a question for my dad's tank, I halped him seet up an 80 gallon reef for right around 4 years now at his house, since i have moved away to college i come home and work on it when i can but well i am in college. my mom loves pulsing Xenia, so for her birthday i got her a rock with some on it. this lfs has been go to me an my tank so far so i do not think it is them, they xenia were cool in the tank for about a week, then i go home ah it looked like something had "cropped" off the head of the head!, i watched and watched but i never did see anything munching on them any suggestions or thought?

It is not uncommon for a fish to swim through the xenia and clip off some polyps with their fins. BTW, Where ever the polyps land you will wind up with more xenia, personally I think of xenia the same way I think of aptasia, a pest.
