Just added some to my tank, actually came as a hitchiker with some grape calurpa. My first assessment is that this stuff may be somewhat bullet proof. Grows like a weed.
Don't know about supplements. I dose iodine weekly for my shrooms so the xenia will get it whether it needs it or not.
Good Luck!

I have some pulsing Xenias. They do grow like weeds. My experience says you need iodine. I did a water change and didn't add iodine for about a week and a half before that. About a day later, the xenias looked like they were going to die. So, I remembered I forgot the iodine, I dosed the tank, the next day, the xenias were fine.

What is the best way to trim them? Exacto knife? Should I trim the heigth as well as the new arms growing on the stalks?

Hey.....I have been keeping Xenia now for about a year and a half....it was one of my first corals....the main thing with these corals is to give them current and high lighting!! I never add iodine but i do think that these corals need atleast moderate lighting.....they love my MH and if you want them to grow put them in a high current environment.....but beware they will grow fast and overtake rocks, glass and whatever else they want! Iodine may help the growth of this coral not sure.....it is a softy so prob so....never tired it! GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY REEFING! :D

Good idea for fraging....most of the time i have just cut it with a stight razor and then took the frag and rubber banded it to a piece of rubble rock and it attaches quickly....1-3 days...i usually have trouble with the current sweeping mine away if i don't rubber band!....just another suggestion!.....good luck

You can also frag them by just setting a small piece of l/r next to it just so it is touching the stem. Over a course of about a week, it will move there. After most of it has attached to the rock, just cut the rest of the stalk with a razor. I found this method by far the easiest way to frag xenias. :D
