pump needed for refugium

Will a ten gallon refugium be big enough, (65 gal tank)? Since it is so small what are the Vital parts and/or organism to a fuge? What is the best pump for this project? I have an extra rio 1100 would that be enough? And I'm probably just a little slow but I still do not understand how too keep it from overflowing if the pump were to fail at some time. Thanks

What I have done is taken the drain from the tank to the sump and split it to send some to the fuge and then have the fuge drain to the sump. This way another pump is not needed.

What kind of overflow is on the tank? Due to the failure rate of Rios, I would only use them as cheap powerheads.......never anything important. They seem to have a lot of trouble restarting and working right in general. Some folks will say that they have had one for years, but the truth is that Rios fail more than any pump known to man.......that's why they cost less.

Since my sump/fuge will be below the tank can't I just use gravity as a pump and then allow enough room in the sump for overflow in the case the power goes out? And what is the best sealant to use to put the sump together? thanks much

I don't think Rigby understands the way things work. The best advice we can give you is to go to a place that has some overflows running and see how they work.
Your idea would require a siphon and pump to go at the same exact speed.. That's just not going to happen.
