pump question

I am setting up a 90 reef tank with a sump and i am going to put it in my living room. I need to find a extremely quiet 300 gph - 600 gph submersible return pump, does anyone have any recommendations?

IMO 300 to 600 gph is much to small for 90 gl tank but you prob. have your reasons. I use mags. and they are quite. Most submersibles are.

300-600gph is just fine for a return pump; that's more flow than most skimmers designed for 90g systems can handle anyways. As long as there is enough supplemental circulation in the tank, there shouldn't be any problems.
As for recommendations, like Dogstar mentioned, Mag Drives are great submersible pumps (though they do have a tendency to build up calcium more than other pumps and need more attention to maintenance). A Mag 7 will fall right into your desired flow rate after head loss has been factored in, or any comparable Eheim pumps would give you excellent results.

Thanks for the help, are mag drive pumps quiet, my wife told me "even we have to pay extra i don't want to have to turn up the volume on the tv to hear over the pump"

They're hit or miss. I've got two Mag 9.5's running right now (one as a return pump and one on the skimmer) and neither makes much noise (though they are both resting on a piece of rubber in the sump). I also own a Mag 7 that gets used for water changes that shakes, rattles, and rolls when it gets turned on.
