Pump Question

I just close a ball valve for a few minutes when I'm feeding rather than turning my sump/return pump off . Does this seriously harm the pump in any way? :notsure:

yeah it do harm the pump some.. but how much do it harm??... well that depends on what type of pumps it is.. and what brand...
