just got some should i start the out on the bottom, or can i go ahead and place them...and for how long my lighting is 4x65w and 2x96w thanks

Lighting is good. I just got some a week ago and put it right in the middle of the tank under 250W MH. It looks great and I've had no problems, to be safe you could add it to the bottom though. Would hate to say go for it, then hear later it was to much.

I would take it out right now and return it to the fish store. If you insist on keeping the worst coral on the planet it will "THRIVE/TAKE-OVER" no matter where you put it!

still it is cool and i am getting some. plus it is not the WORST zCORAL ON THE PLANET

Once a week I go through my tank cut a bunch out and flush it. the stuff is out of control.

well you have to understand i'm the guy who killed mushrooms...never found out why but my gsp and toad stool are good...thanks

Make sure to get iodine supplement and an iodine test kit if you want to keep pulsing Xenia. They need iodine in the water, and if it is depleted they will stop pulsing and die.
They are also intolerant of sub-par water conditions so make sure you do weekly water changes with distilled or RO water. You ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites should read zero.

If you have a proper test kit, then there is no reason to avoid adding iodine. I don't know why you are telling him not to test for iodine when every professional aquarist will tell you Xenia needs occasional iodine supplements. It helps all your inverts as well, especially hermit crabs, who use it to molt.

does anyone have a pic of pulsing xenia? is it pink? i think i saw some at my lfs. very cool
also, there is nothing wrong with adding iodine. i supplement it once a week

Maybe thats why my xenia died. Can i get a iodine test kit at my lfs? (I dont recall seeing one)
