Well Heidi had 5 last night. The other one is in labor right now and I give her about 2 to 3 hours before we see her pups. I am thinking she only has two. We shall see soon.

It is a matter of minutes till we see Tina's first one. T316, How are your broods, you know your kittens and your fish. So what is the trade ratio for kittens and pups? I will trade you two pups for one kitten. Just think how happy your kids will be on Christmas opening up a present with a couple pups in it.

Two great minds think alike....I almost posted after your earlier post that I'll trade you 4 kittens for 1 pup....

Kittens are fine. Eyes have opened and they are trying to stand up.
Fish babies...not so good. Down to about 15 from initial 40. Apparently they were not eating the cyclopeez.

D, Sorry to hear about your fish. Maybe this is a learning experience for next time.....
You shall have pictures, trust me. But Tina just delivered her 3rd pup about 20 minutes ago. It took a long time and she needed some help, so I am a little spent, and behind on my stuff to do. Pictures will be posted later tonight.

D, you wanting to get your pick of the litter? I don't have individual pics of the dogs yet, but here are some of the happy families.
So far so good. ALthough the last one that was born is literally teh runt of the litter and might need a little help.
J, You of course can have your pick in front of D.

Very nice pups Scott. I'll take the brown one in the last pic (the one curled up to Mom). Just let me know what shipping is from CA to NC. We can offset the costs after I ship the (4) kittens to you....

Those two little dogs had 9 puppies between them!?!?!?!?!? Good grief, they'll never get a moments rest.
So what are the sexes of the puppies for Tina and Heidi?
They are SO SWEET!!!! Congratulations!

R, The first one had her's on Thurs. at 8 pm, the other was Friday at 1 pm. So pretty close together. We don't know if it was the same papa, but we can certainly say that these two had a party about 60 days ago.

D, ahhh you have a good eye for dogs. Infortunately shipping may be a little costly since they will be ready right before Christmas, and I am pretty sure that I will have to ship them overnight delivery.
Heck the runt is so small I may even just thow that one in for free.
Ocean, I think it is 4 boys and one girl for Heidi, and 3 girls and one boy for Tina. The good thing is that they are so close knit that they check out each other's pups and there is not fighting or squabbling. The bad part is that neither one is going to be mother of the year. But they are getting better. I hate to think of how many dogs we have in the house right now.

Wow, so where they just strays or did the owners dump them? God I wish people would get their pets fixed, two dogs homeless just became 9 more. Curious why your shelter doesn't do spay/aborts? I know it's terrible to think about but there's already 4 million pets put down in shelters every year and whole litters of puppies too.
Are they really two different breeds of dog? They look the same to me.
I don't know little dog breeds well though. Think poppa was a similar breed? I don't know what puppy brussels look like. Your house is going to be nuts once those puppies can move around, they should be well-socalized though. Have fun with the tiny poop monsters! You'll have to keep us updated on how they look when they get a little bigger.

PJ, I hear you, but all that I know is these two little cuties had their babies in a safe, warm place. These babies are going to know nothing but safety, caring and love for the next 8 weeks. Then the shleter will place them with good families, and Tina and Heidi will be placed in a good home together as well. All of them will be fixed, that is part of the adoption process. While I agree there is a huge problem, these little dudes are going to be OK and have a good life.
You know it is funny, when we started fostering with this shelter I did not agree with their methods. They screen who the dogs go to, they do home inspections, they charge too much....... However after seeing some of the people that have come by looking at the pups (previous litters) and we had some neighbors that moved in who had a dog that they left outside all the time and barked constantly, I am changing my mind and thinking they are not doing such a bad job.
Anyway I have rambled on too long, let me go take some more pictures.

Honestly those pups will be a lot cheaper than buying from a breeder and probably better taken care of. I love shelters that insist on home checks, background checks, whatever you gotta do to make sure they stay in the home forever. Throwing them at anybody that wants them is pretty much a guarentee that they will get tossed around even more. One thing I don't like where I live is most shelters charge more for cute little dogs even if they are really old and have health issues. My shelter dog was only $65 but nobody really wants pit bulls so that's not suprising. More pictures!

Well since it seems safe to start posting again, time for some puppy pictures!!

Heidi with her pups in her "cave"

Tina's pups. They are smaller than Heidi's, but she is smaller than Heidi.

When Tina is excited she stands on her back legs and paws at the air.

Dwight, I think this one is yours.....
