Purchased Green Brain -- questions -- first coral

I purchased a green brain. This is my first coral. I am not sure whether its an open green brain or a closed green brain. I am drip acclimating it now.
Questions:
Where should I place this rock? does it need to sit on the sand? or is on another rock ok?
I have searched on here to feed it meaty foods at night.
What other tank supplements do I need? I've never kept corals before.
Any help one could provide would be great. I am keeping this under power compacts.

Yes they can be exposed to air, no hurry but minimize the amount of time without hurrying too much and causing problems.
I feed mine Spretrum Thera A++ pellets. That is what all my corals eat that will eat.
I have mine placed on a flatter piece of rock. But they will do well anywhere if you have good enough light. I wouldn't place in the sand if you have anything that will toss sand on it though.

What sort of calcium level should I target for?
Ive done the calcium test once or twice. do I look for the drop that changes the color instantly? or do i need to go further than that?

I just stick my hand in the water and drop the pellets on him and he eats them. I try to maintain calcium levels around 425 to 450, but I don't add anythign special I just do water changes. I have found that it is easier and more economical to do water changes than it is to add and test and add and retest.
I also I haven't tested for anything in a very long time. Shame on me.

How often do you feed them?
Do they grow much? how fast? onto other rocks or how does that work?

they do grow but not super fast as some corals do
The best placement is on the sand if you add them on the rock when they expand they can damage the tissue or worse fall damageing the entire coral.
I feed mine once to twice a week with shrimp pieces and it loves them feeding at night you will see feeding tenticals coming out around the edges.

Is the pic you posted a closed or open green brain coral. I have read that open green brain coral have a mouth in the center and when it is open you feed. However, I cannot find much info on the closed green brain coral I purchased from saltwaterfish.com. The coral seems happy and I try to feed him shrimp but no clue when it eats. I have never seen a mouth or tentacles. My coral looks very similar to your pic so I was curious if you have a closed or open.
I am new to corals, so please forgive if this is an elementary question.
Thanks,
Kayla

Mike thank you so much for responding. According to your pics, it looks like I may have a green open brain instead of the green closed brain. I have sent you a pic via e-mail.
Thanks,
Kayla
