Purple Algae

Help! I have had a serious outbreak of algae. It first started off with hair algae growing all over the rocks and now it has turned into this slimy purple stuff that would cover every thing if I did not go in once a week a pick it off. What is this and why am I having such a bad outbreak?

Try increasing flow in your AQ. dead spots and not enough flow in your tank is normally the cause of it. Remove as much as you can. Cut down on feeding and check your PO3.
How old is your tank and what are the readings?
