i just today added a skilter 400http://www.pets-warehouse.com/pic-a/ASP01033.jpg hangon filter and protein skimmer combo to the tank. it is rated at tanks up to 125 gallons if used in combination with some other sort of mechanical filtration (ie a protein skimmer) which i currently have running. it cleared up all the mess on the top of the tank in a matter of minutes. i should have done a little research on this filter before i purchased it as i am finding a lot of negative reviews. maybe if i do one of those DIY airstone mods it will be a little more efficient. so far i havent had any problems with it and it seems to be producing plenty of skimmate. hope this turns out to be a good purchase. the guy at my LFS had one running on his 70 gallon show tank and swears by it but im beginning to think he was trying to make a quick buck. he was even "so kind" as to give me 10% off although i have been buying a lot of stuff over the last 8 months between this new project and my 40 gallon FOWLR.
