I have 70 pounds of live rock. Sixty pounds of it was cheap LR without the purple. The other ten is expensive rock and has alot of purple coralline. I am starting to get a neon green color on my cheap rock (it does not look like algae). Will this turn purple?

you could use purple up, lots of products on the market.
BUT you have to be careful when dosing, if you dose too much of anything you could throw off everything else, ph, alk, etc.
When i dose i ctually do a half dose test for a couple of days then do another half dose.
My coraline is all kinds of colors pink, red, green, etc. heres a pic for an example.
Most of my rock is only a couple of months old but some of it did come from a teardown.
I test for the following and dose only as needed and try to keep my ca ~450.
I just started testing for mag and phos, best advise i can give you is read, read, read then read some more! (water chem)
trate
alk
ca
mag
phos
ph

I have some base rock that is flourescent green too. i dose with purple up. Its starting to get little spots of pink and purple on it now. The green is usaully first to come but will eventually be overtaken by the better colors.

Use a knife and scrap some of the purple off your rock. It has worked better than anything else I have tryed. my tank is covered now.even my snails have purple growth on there shells.I do it everytime I do a water change.

This is how I do it, but I just scraped the container that some LS came in that was covered w/ it and cut the filter and PH off for at least an hour and it will seed the tank, including the glass. Noticed it grows quick on acrylic and plastics.

VERY EASY TO DO. JUST TURN OFF YOUR PH'S AND LEFT IT FLOAT AROUND FOR A AND HOUR OR 2. I DID IT LAST WEEK, AND NOW I HAVE PURPLE GROWING IN ABOUT 20 DIFFERENT SPOTS ON MY BACK WALL!!!!!
USING PURPLE UP HAS HELPED AS WELL. JUST REMEMBER THAT DIFFERENT ALGAES GROW AT DIFFERENT RATES.
OH YEAH- EVERYONE ON HERE HAS THEIR OWN OPINIONS ABOUT EVERYTHING. SO JUST TAKE THE ADVISE IN STRIDE, AND DO YOUR RESEARCH.
