Purple crap

I have inserted some live rock in my tank and over the past year it has turned all purple. Is this bad? It doesnt look bad and it doesnt seem to be effecting the fish in any way. I just notice it grows a little more month by month?

Are you talking about the LR turning a light purple or is it a purple velvet looking mass growing? Does it look as if the rock is changing color or that something is visibly growing? I ask because of the different types of algaes in the tanks, some good some not.

It is like a purple velvet! Its all over my regular and live rocks.

I like it. I just wanted to make sure that it wasnt dangerous. I will take some pics of the aqaurium and post them.

easy way to tell, is it hard and crusty, does not rub off easy?
if so, it is probably coraline algae, good thing, attractive, removes nutrients that are essential for nuance alages and so on.
