Purple Stuff

My tank is about a year old and I enjoy all the new growth that it produces. In the last few months a purple algae has begun to grow. At first I thought it was healthy, now I am concerned it is taking over the tank. Its on the rock, glass and snails. Is it healthy? Can I scrape it off the front glass?

Post a pic if you have it, but i think a lot of us would like to have your problem:D it is just probably coriline (however you spell it) and you want it to grow on the rocks and the back of the glass etc... it is an awsome "problem to have"

If it's hard and crusty it's coralline algae.... a sign of good water chemistry and a healthy tank. You can scrape it off or keep it... it's up to you. Most people scrape it off the front glass to be able to see in clearly, but keep it everywhere else. :D
