I acclimated the purple tang with my water that was 1.025 sal. today for several hours...while doing this I used 2 gallons of water in my 10 ..20 percent...so I added some mixed water but the salinty using a nice refractometer reads 1.023..should I leave it like that ? or should I increse it to 1.025...I'm monitoring the fish for a few days before I do Hypo making sure the fish is healthy first and eating and looking good.

I'll just add some more higher salinity water when it tops off...and leave it 1.023 for now...anyways imo the jump to 1.025 or 1.026 isn't that drastic..I guess I was looking for more support..

If you are going to hypo him anyway then do not bring the sg up. Your sg is fine as is.

What is the temp at 82 supposed to do? Normal tanks range from 79-82. Stability is the key. No one said that you had to hypo this fish. Don't be fooled by these silly things such as raising the temp. There are two proven treatments for cryptocaryon irritans
AKA marine ich, they are copper and hyposalinity. Hyposalinity is natural and not harmfull at all. It relieves stress to the fish if the quarantine tank is fully cycled. You can certainly just observe this fish. Please tell me that he is in the qt though.

raising the temp. only speeds up the life cycle of ick. your only supposed to do it in a tank that has ick, but no fish left in it. normally yo should wait about 35 days, but by bumping the temp up to say 88, you may be able to shave a few days off that number. if there is a fish in the tank (a host for the ick) raising the temp isnt going to do a thing.
as sepulation said, its either copper or hypo (i prefer the latter) and that is if the fish does indeed even have ick.
and if you do plan on doing hypo, whats the sense in bringing the SG up, just to pull it back down again. 23 is perfectly acceptable to run a fish tank at. most people who run fish only run it at 20.

good as long as he is in QT, keep feeding a mixture , keep levels straight , dont hypo if you dont need to.

what should I do the tang looks healthy and i called the place i got it from and they said it came with no parasites at all at just to feed it garlic put dont leave it in the 10 gal qt for more than 5 days that will stress it out more and if it looks healthy u can put in the 80 and just feed garlic...and zoe to prevent ich/ick and boost immune system any truth to this ?

If he's doing okay, then leave him in qt for a month or so. (I am worried, though, that a tang will not last that long in a 10.) The point of the qt is so that you can watch and see if he shows signs of disease, and you can't see that until he's been in there a while because many diseases and parasites are not visible for weeks. If I were you, I'd keep him in qt for a month before introducing him to the main tank. Just keep a close eye on your levels.

Believe me, I know. It always freaks me out to have my fish in qt because they just seem so much more vulnerable. Hopefully you'll have no problems, but a long qt is the only way to be sure you're not going to introduce something nasty into the tank that neither you nor your LFS knows about.
Given that you only have a 10, you may have to take your chances. I've done that a few times and--so far--my tank has survived. I've often lost the fish I've added, but everyone else is well...
