Purple tang

I am probably going to pick up a Purple tang in the next couple of weeks. The person is breaking down their tank (a 125). The person also has a Blonde Naso Tang, Powder Blue tang, and Yellow tang in the same tank (with other fish). It's a very cool setup.
I have always wanted a purple tang. The recommended tank size is 90gal (which I have) and I wanted to consider the purple along with either the Blonde Naso or the Powder Blue.
Can I get some tang feedback (problems in reef setup, nips at certain corals, etc). I've never had tangs. Thanks!

There are some very strong opinions on Tangs, tank sizes etc. etc. These kind of threads can get nasty quickly, just trying to keep it civil.
I've seen/read that on here... thank you. Yes, this is a serious question. Trust me... I, myself, questioned the tank owner! But, I watched those fish for a long time and they all get along great. The other tank mates are a grunt (light gray with neon blue dashed lines) caught from the Atlantic of S. FL, a golden (?) hogfish, 2 anthias, 3 blue chromis.
I've asked the person to send photos of the fish. They are all super healthy and BIG.

how big are these tangs?
i had 4 tangs in a 90 for a few years but they were 3 inches.
now my purple is almost 6 inches.
my anemone wiped all the tangs out but the purple.
tangs need alot of space .
now i have a 225 with the purple,8 inch achilles and a 7 inch fowleri.
they get along good but have alot of room.although i am thinking of a 400+ tank soon cause the achilles looks like he could use more room.
if you take 4 tangs and take away 25% of thier home they might not get along so well.
anyway as long as the tangs are small and you are willing to upsize to at least a 150 tank .
you might just pass on them.
maybe go to c-list and look foir a bigger tank?

I have a purple in my 130.. He is by far the biggest bully in the tank...I would love to add a Naso, but I dont really think my tank is big enough... So I doubt your 90 would suffice if you wanted to add those 2. For the record, I have a foxface, mandrin, royal gramma,2 percs, fairy wrasse.

if you really want the purple tang it would be best to only get that one tang with the purple tang growing to the small size of the 3 you listed.

All of this guys fish are in a 125 (with no problem)at the moment and they are fairly big - I thought it was too many..
I am only looking to acquire the purple tang or possibly both the purple and powder blue. The purple is probably 5-6" long and the powder blue about
4-5" long.
I probably won't be upgrading to a bigger tank until December or January. When I do, I will be looking for a 125 or larger.

Purple tang max size = 10 inches.
Powder blue tang max size = 9 inches.
Just so you have some reference on where the fish are now and where they can grow to. Kind of a gage to look ahead with. So if you figure each of them will about double in size from where they are now, that should give you a good indication.

By the way I have a 4" Purple and 4" RedSea Sailfin in my 120. An occasional flash but they do fine. Fat, dumb and so far happy.
