Purple Tang

Would like to know if anyone out there can tell me about a purple tang and how to care for one;etc. feeding, how large a tank should be, (even if a 25 gallon is large enough for one) anything about a purple tang. Interested in purchasing one.

Rita, did you mean 25g (your other post said you had a 125)?

A 25g Tank is to small for a purple tang. They can get up to 8-10 inches.

My purple tang lives in a tank that is 6 feet long. IMO, they need the room to swim. 4 ft tanks too short. 25 gallon tanks will get the tang police in a MAJOR uproar! Look up "tangs" in the search feature in the top right of the SWF.com screen you are looking at now. Type in tangs and get ready for hours worth of reading, especially in regards to tank size. Caution...wear you sunglasses as the debates get pretty darn hot there. You'll also find gobs of useful tang care and info within those pages. Most of the tang care you'll see works well for any species of tang, and especially the ones that get rather large. Welcome to the board! So glad to see that you're doing your homework BEFORE making the purchase!
