Oh we have been there done that...good that you found this site and not another..that I had the misfortune of finding, they just tried to confuse me and thought it was funny! No stupid questions..everyone goes through it..then later on you want to kick yourself for going to fast and NOT asking enough questions! Do your water changes..that will bring your ammonia levels down, has anyone mentioned about using tap water to you? Reg tap water is not good for your tank..too many impurities. You can use distilled water or a RO unit to filter your tap water. (Reverse Osmosis) looks like a water purifier you hook on your sink..Then once you have your good water you add your salt mix add it in a good clean 5 gallon bucket follow directions on the back of the bag on how much to add, then you need to airate the mixed saltwater for atleast 24 hours. Get a cheap little pump with air hose and air stone. Ya your water quality is key to a healthy tank..you can have the best lights in the world but if your water quality is not good nothing will live very long. Hope this helps!
