Purple Up Hi PH

I got a bottle of Purple Up Ive used it 2 times. Do you think its the reason my PH is REALY HIGH ? Or I did a 10% water change and tested my water 3hrs later is that too soon to test?

purple up should not affect the ph of your tank. i use it almost daily, and have never had any problems. what are the other parameters of your tank?

I use purple up and it's not the prob... (just watch out, because it is caustic and can damage your skin... I've even emailed the company about it and they say it's not, but my thumb says it is! )
Anyhow, Go ahead and pick up some Seachem Marine Buffer... it helps balance out that pH and make it more stable...

the PH in my RO/DI water is 7. I use seachem buffer when I do every water change. I thought RO water would have a PH of 7.

I"ll check the ph in the r/o water and test the ph in the tank water again today

purple up raises Ca, which raises alk, and if raised too high can raise pH.

How old are you test kits and what brand are you using? I replace my test kits every few months

AP Test kit its new I tested it again a while ago and its down to appox 8.4

Have you taken a sample to your LFS to have them double check?

I am pretty sure purple up made my alk and Ph go wackky to. Yesterday cal 480 alk 160 ph over 8.7 that's as high as my kit test and I was way darker. I am going to stop using it for a week see if it straightens its self out.
