purple up

Its a stronger concentration of calclium suppliment to raise your calcium faster. It will cloud up your tank and it will dissipate over an hour or so. I use liquid reactor,(same thing different manufacture) and it boost the calcium level where I want it and then use kalwasser as top off water to maintain it.

there is nothing organic in purple up. meaning there is no living algae in it. all it is a calcium and some other elements that will raise your tank calcium level. its called purple up because when the tank has a higher level of calcium, the purple coralline algae will flourish, along with good lighting and water params. this is not as effective as pure calcium dosing. always test for calcium or anything that you are dosing for that matter. if youre magnesium and alk is off you may get calcium precipation.

It has to be introduced to the tank first. Keep your calcium around 400-450 and it should start to spread.

as long as your pars are in order, purple up will definately help boost and quicken your coraline growth. i use it everyother day.

When you start to see your coraline growing you can use a toothbrush on them to help the spoors move around in your tank looking for a new home

Take a small peice of rock that has CA on it..Take a knife and scrape it off into the water..Be careful what you wish for...I did that in my 92 and hated that tank about 3 weeks later...I had to scrape the glass everyday...

if your parameters were in order, you wouldnt need to add purple up.
i use purple up as a calcium additive and ive noticed since using it that i dont have to use magnesium as much anymore. im guessing the purple up has a good amount of mag. in it as well.

i just brushed with a tooth brush where there is coraline is at so the spoors can spread. hope this works i want it badly

not entirely true teen... i dose 2 part, and mag daily and have always had decent coral growth. since regularly adding purple up it had made the coraline grow signifiganly faster.

if your parameters are where they should be, then adding purple up would make your Ca and Mg levels rise, thus making them higher than ideal. amirite?

to an extent you are correct. keep your level low to mid if your using purple up and it will keep your levels at a steady higher range but still be acceptable.
check out fedel castros tanks, he doses 2 part daily and also doses purple up daily.

im gonna have to disagree about the mag here. i have dosed nothing but purple up for calcium for a few years now and my mag was just tested at ~700 i have had to slowly raise it over the last 2 weeks.
