Purpose of anemone crab?

I was just wondering if an anemone crab serve any purpose for an anemone, or if hes really just there to hang out and look cool! I'm thinking about getting one reguardless, cause I've always thought they were really cool looking crabs!
Also, is there anything else I should know about these guys before I get one? I dont think I should have a compatibility problem. All I have in my 29 gallon is a percula clown, 2 firefish, 2 camelback shrimp, a fire and a cleaner shrimp, a red general star and a brittle. And of course some random hermits and snails and such.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Also if anybody knows much about the teddy bear crab or horseshoe crab, let me know! I cant seem to find much information on these guys!
I know the teddy bear isn't very easy to find, but I'd like to gain some info on him now, that way if I happen to find one somewhere, i know what I'm getting into and can get him! Thanks again guys!

i only know the answer to one of ur questions.
the anemone crab hangs around in the anemone like how a clown does but it also cleans it up. like if the anemone poops it helps it by removing the poop when it gets stuck around its tentacles.

If I were you I would get a tiny anemone about the size of a fifty cent piece. Maybe a lil bigger and put the anemone crab in it. My crab and Maroon clown are always fighting and his fins get ripped up and it looks bad. This way they each have their own.
Once you get the anemone crab in their though good luck getting him out.

My clowns share a large(about 8-9 inches across) gbta with porcelain, no problems. If the anemone is big enough there should not be a problem. Horseshoe crabs get HUGE. I'd go ahead and scratch that off your list. Never had a teddybear but i've heard they can be quite aggressive.

I dont have corals, and my clown has been in the same tank as the BTA for about 3 months now and has shown no intrest in hosting. I even saw him touch the BTA once to try and get a piece of food and still showed no interest, so I'm not really worried bout them fighting.
Thanks for the input on the horseshoe, I only have a 29 galon so I will definitely steer away! I'm just like my shimp and crabs, they are so much easier to care for, they dont get diseases, and in my eyes are more fun to watch than fish! Any other suggestions for me?

Im with you on the Inverts over fish lol I like my fish but the inverts come first in my tank. Just returned a pair of Blue Jaw triggers because they killed a shrimp. If there not hosting I say go for it.....But If there like my clowns Once the crab gets there they will want to host it out of spite

I have a setup similar to yours actually. I have a BTA with a porcelain crab hosting it but my two percs have never even looked at my anemone honestly being as they were tank raised. My crab is not extremely active and they do not stray from the anemone at all. They are extremely protective over it though. He will attack anything that gets within striking distance including me unless I have food for him. He also does clean up the anemone when it is expelling it's waste. They are very pretty and interestng to watch......I say definitely go for it.
