How do you put together the acrylic tanks and HOB refugiums? How are the pieces sealed together? TIA

When I made my sump/refuge out of acrylic I set up all the sides and the bottom and then put about 30 rubberbands around the outside to squeeze everything together the check to make sure they were all close as possible and applied the weldon which bonds the acrylic together or whatever you call it. It is pretty simple IMO if you take your time and do it right because there is no second chance.:D

That is right, but for the "no second Chances"
If you have a leak (check outside with fresh water) then you can take some "sawdust" from when you cut your acrylic and thicken it up with weld on. Use this like caulk over the leak.

Imo that would be ghetto to mix it with sawdust plus I wouldn't trust it so why not just do it right the first time. Also if you were to have to do something like that at least do it with the proper material like a thicker weldon like #16 i think is the thick stuff.

I think he means the "sawdust" from the acrylic. hmmmmm, ghetto  .
People with saltwater fish tanks generally can't use the term "ghetto" (sorry, but ya aren't poor if you have a saltwater tank)
Sorry - one of my pet peeves - i live in a generally wealthy school district and everybody tries to act "ghetto"

Oh, and you think $93 makes you poor? You haven't seen my paycheck yet, o wait, I haven't seen my paycheck either!

Thanks for the help guys! I might try to make my own refugium/sump soon.

Its a pretty fun diy project Imo. Are you looking at the diy refugium kits off ---- where the acrylic comes all cut and you just put it together? If so that is what I did except I had the guy make a custom sized one for my tiny 46g. bow front stand.

Good luck with the acrylic - let us know how it turns out.
