pvc for building reef

As I stated in the other thread in the reef section I want to build a structure out of pvc to make cleaning a bit easier. Would it be best to cap the ends of it or leave them open. I assume capping them would be better but then I should fill them with something to keep them from floating? Anyone have any advice in regards to this? I am thinking of just building a structure kinda like you would for fire wood in an L shape. To leave space under and behind the rock to blow out the crap.
Seems like a good idea anyway

About a 3" piece of acrylic sheet. Use a heat source and bend it to what you want to do, then cut pieces of acrylic and weld on "rock stops" to it.

You can buy acrylic at almost any hardware store including the Big Chain Hardware stores. It comes in many different sizes. I purchased a large piece then just cut it down with a table saw. I used a heat gun to transform it, however some have used the little torches for like plumbing, I have heard of some using a hair drier for the thinner stuff. Just clamp it to a table or place in a vice and heat...apply pressure to desired bend....remove heat and presto you have the bend. Don't press to hard as you can snap it. For the welding part just use Weld-on number 4. Good Luck
