Pygmy Angel Compatibility

I am interested in keeping a Coral Beauty, Flame and Yellow Pygmy Angel in the same tank. I have a 90 gallon with lots of cave and hiding places. In the past I was able to keep a Coral Beauty and a Flame at the same time with no issues. When the Flame died after 2 years I decided not to add another Flame. I wanted to try again but figured I see what others had to say. I have done plenty of reading on the internet about keeping more than one Pygmy/Dwarf Angel and several articles state that they can be keeped in the same tank but you should add them to the tank at the same time so that one does not establish it's own territory proir to adding the others. If I place the 3 of them in a 20 gallon QT so I can add them to the DT at the same time will this cause a problem?
I have read Beth's information on QT'ing and she states "Only one fish in the QT as to reduce stress" (unless it's an emergency of course). How can I add 3 Pygmy's/Dwarf's at the same time if I should only place one in the QT at a time? Any help on this would be great.
Thanks
Cory

I'm currently quarantining a coral beauty, a yellow, and an elibi angel in a 20 gallon tank. I had a Singapore with them but he needed special treatment...
All get along very well. Sure, there was a little chasing within the first 30 minutes of me adding one in with the others (I added them all at different times) but never was their anything serious. Now, after a couple weeks, they act like a happy family.
That's not to say that all angels are compatible. When I choose my fish, I look at the characteristics of each one. For instance, I wouldn't add an an angel with much yellow (like a lemonpeel) because my yellow angel might see it as competition, nor would I add a half black with my Singapore or my Elibi because of the pattern and color similarities. I try to chose the species with the most contrasting characteristics (that are affordable and available, of course).
In the near future, I'm planning to add a flame angel once the others are moved into the display. I didn't mention before that I also try to purchase fish around the same size so they all have an equal chance of being intimidating.

that is what I figured. Thanks you for the input. I will make sure that none of the fish resemble the other as far as color or shape. I am hoping that I can have at least 6 small angels in a 90 gallon with no issues.
Have a GREAT WEEKEND.........

Before buying that many angels, make sure you ask the manager of the fish store if you can take them back if you have a problem with all the angels in one tank. just my .02

Agreed, great advise. Definitely have a back up plan, because mixing angels is far from a guarantee.
As far as one fish for QT, generally that's a good idea, because many QT's are undersized. I can't imagine the maintenance, having 3 decent sized fish in a small, 20gal or so, QT. You'd have to be doing 50% water changes everyday to keep levels in check. Also, many fish need a bit of help, adjusting to tank life. Many fish do not take to prepared foods right away. They need a peaceful environment, where they can learn. If they're placed with competitive fish who out-eat them, they never will learn.

Mixing dwarf angels is not a good idea at all. They just don't get along. As you read, if you are going to add two, add them at the same time. Aggression is the big issue. In a 90 you may be alright with two. Don't add a third.
Just so you know, don't take advice of any claimed "success" unless it has been a year or more
