QT question

I am breaking down my QT after an unsuccesful isolation period. I would rather not get the QT filled with water until I need it again. Is there something that I can do so I don't have to go through the cycle again?

IMO I would leave the QT up and running. That way you wouldn't have to worry about it cycling again. Feed the tank so there is some kind of bio load on it until you get another fish or need it again. How big is your QT?
What happened that was unsuccessful?

I read somewhere in one of these forums that I could put the filter somewhere in the DT and just take it out when I need it. As for my fish, they started with ick and just started dieing off one by one. I know my QT was still going through a cycle so that prob. did it. My QT is 10gal.

if the QT is only 10 gal, couldn't you take water from your display and put it in the QT, then add 10 gals to your display, kinda like a water change?
This is what I did when my fish got sick, and this is what I do when I get new fish.
Is there problems in doing this???????

That is also what I heard but they ( i wish I could find the post) also said to put the filter somewhere to keep the bioload good.

I keep bio balls in my sump and use those in the QT. Works well for me. I also keep my QT up 24/7 though.
