any tank used for a reptile or rodent is not suitable to be used for fish. tanks are fairly inexpensive nowadays so your best bet will be to just buy a new tank for your qt.

I think ppl are a little weird. Wash the tank with warm soapy water and then do a bleach solution. Let the tank sit out in the sun to remove the chlorine and I think you would be fine.

I would not recomend soap or bleach in a tank that is going to be used for fish. If it is not rinsed REALY thoroughly the fish will die. Vinegar and warm water are all that is needed.

ok, but bleach will kill everything, and the sun will make the bleach harmless, and rinse one more time and you are done. Every tank I have ever had I did this to.

Realy? Ok, if it has worked for you. I just personally wouldn't use any chemical cleaning product. That's just me though.

understand and completely respect your position. I would prefer not to do it either, but circumstances sometimes do not allow for a new tank, so, I emprovised. I am only stating that it didn't hard my system, everthing went swimmingly.
