QT Setup Questions

I have a 14g Nano that has housed fish for the past few months. I have decided to make this my QT.
Is there anything in particular that I should do in preparation to get this tank ready to be my QT? Since it has had fish in the past, I just wanted to empty all of the h20 and properly clean the inside of the tank so as to rid the tank of any possible parasites etc...
Should I let the tank sit empty for a period of time to be sure that any unwanted pests are taken care of , or this not necessary?
Also, the nano has bioballs with the proper bacteria thriving. What should I do in the meantime with them if I let the tank sit. Should I let the bioballs sit in some old tank water to keep the bioload alive?
Thanks for any and all input on this!!

Why not put he balls in there? Theyll be doing good for your other setup while you setup its new setup

Yeah, I don't see why that would not at least keep the bioload alive in the bioballs...I'll give that a shot while I clean out the QT.
