QT tank.

Before i cycle my tank do i need to cycle a qt tank or use the same water from the dt? Also what do i need in it. So far i have a filter, a 10 gallon, heater and copper medicine. Anything else im missing?

sounds like you should be fine. i always just use regular SW that i get from the LFS and let it sit in the tank like 3 or 4 day s before i know i need it. as far as medecine i dont really keep anything on hand cuz you could get hit with anything. but sounds like you got what you need for a desent QT

You didn't say it explicitly, but you want some basic ornamentation in the QT, so the fish have a place to hide, and there's additional surface area for bacteria to grow.
I have a dusting of substrate in there as well, for the same reason.
Don't forget lighting as well. Hard to tell what that spot on the fish is if the tank isn't lit.
