QT..?

I swear i put up a new thread with a new question every day here...

Anyways, i have a bit of a question about a quarantine set up for a Yellow Tang. i have my 90g cycling currently at my house and it will be fish-ready in about 4 weeks- heavy filtration, heavy skimming, 120lbs of rock, sand, ect. The question here is can i set up a QT at my dorm ( 30 minuets from home) get my tang, and have it sit in QT for roughly 4 weeks and then take it home to the main tank? In my dorm currently i have my 20g nano, and i have another 20 long, and a 20 tall back home that i could use for a Q tank.
i have my RO/DI filter too, and tons of salt, so im more then prepaired for many frequent water changes for the QT time. Does this sound like a good plan? will the 30 minuet trip back to the main tank be too stressfull? ( my other fish made the trip twice with no ill effects with a well planed out move ).

How big is the yellow tang? If he is 2" or less, he would be ok in the tank for that long.
When you bag him, use a large water and air tight bag and then sit it down in a brown paper bag. It should keep him from stressing out as much.
Yellow tangs are pretty hardy fish.
Good luck.

Right, im just trying to kill 2 birds with one stone time wise, and QT while my 90 finishes its cycle and while i get it fish ready.

I'd add a Yellow Tang last not first, even a small one. They're agressive and very territorial. If you go least agressive to most agressive you'll have the best luck.
I know it's a good size tank and a small fish, but still it's a good rule.
Good Luck!

Is your QT already cycled or do you some kind of filter media full of bacteria from another tank? I wouldn't put a fish in a brand new QT tank, it will die of ammonia poisoning B4 the 4 weeks are up, no mater how many water changes you do.

thanks for the advice guys!
I was planning on the tang first because the other tank-mates going with it are a Snowflake Eel and a maroon clown, and i already have both, so it kinda is the least aggresive of the 3 ( in my opinion lol)
And yes i do have a whisper 100 with a seeded filter pad that has been in my 20g nano for about 4 weeks so it should have a decent amount of bacteria for ammonia reduction.
