QTing Leopard Wrasse

Can i QT a leopard Wrasse in a tank with no sand or pods feeding it live brine shrimp? Or do i have to have a tank with sand?

that was a different question. This question Im trying to find out whether a Leopard Wrasse can live in a tank with no sand or pods? Nothing to do with disease. Its a general fish question

youve asked the exact same question in 2 different sections though man, just be a lil patient, people will reply to them, its just gonna take time, remember its the holidays, plus its black friday, a lot of people are out shopping right now, so just be patient

How long do you plan on QT the wrasse? They really do like having some sand to hide and pods to munch.
Leapord's are one of the hardest to acclimate to tank life IMHO.

woot, someone chimed in, see familiar, just a lil patience an people will chime in, thanks grouper, i think he's been freaking out cause he's so worried about his fish, which is perfectly understandable

1. I don't really think what a fish eats in QT is nearly as important as the fact that he's eating something.
2.) I've never kept a LW; but researched quite a bit before deciding against one. I think burrowing in the substrate is such a big part of their behavior that they should have suitable sand in QT. They are difficult enough without denying them a vital part of their environment.
BTW; like most wrasse, these guys are real threats to carpet-dive.

yup, patience is a quality of mine that needs improvement. haha
i wanted to qt him for 4 weeks because he has some ick. He eats brine shrimp so he can probably survive without the pods for a while. Your saying that i absolutely should have sand in the qt? Have people done it without sand before or is too much stress to the fish to not sleep underneath sand?

its probably too much stress man, he's a sand dweller, and having the sand in there will cut down on the stress of being in the QT as it is

You need to provide him more versatility in his diet than brine shrimp as that is just a snack (little nutritional value) for him.
About the actual environment... I know a local reefer who has successfully kept a LW for a long time and he has a bare bottom in his large reef tank. I think with LW it's more about their diet and acclimation to the tank than having the sand that is the difficulty in keeping them.

Hes in my main right now but i want to treat him for ick. He only eats pods and brine shrimp. Wont eat mysis, he did 1 time when i just got him until he discovered the pods. I dont think there is anyway to treat ick and keep pods in the tank at the same time, is there? I can put some sand thats not a problem. The diet has me confused. Im in a situation where Main=good diet+Ick QT=No Pods(Worse diet on just Brine Shrimp) + No Ick
Any way to get a better equation?

How big is the wrasse? I havnt researched them much. are leopards a burrowing fish? If they are and its small enough put a tubberware container of sand in the QT. Thats what I am going to do with my jawfish. If you dont wanna do that at least have something for it to hide in/behind like a few pieces of PVC pipe. It eating brine is a good sign. When I got my true percula clownfish they would only eat brine. I mixed in a tiny bit of mysis with the brine and they began to get a taste for it. I slowly added more and more mysis to the brine shrimp maybe every other day and now they eat it with no problem. I also put some fresh garlic juice in there to get them to eat. You should try that. If it has ick I would deffinately try to QT it.

Hes approx 2.5" and they are burrowers. He buries himself everyday when lights out and comes out when lights up. I can put some sand in bowl i guess im just concerned with the diet as these fish have a reputation for being hard to keep with no pods. Iv been feeding him live brine. Ill try frozen with a little mysis in Garlic Juice like you said. If i can get him to eat mysis I will QT for sure but if I cant should I still QT him?

I would still try to QT it unless you try a reef safe ick treatment. Hypo would will everything else in the tank.

I want to treat him but copper is sketchy because I read he wont tolerate it and Hypo means i must keep him w/ no pods for 6 weeks. Maybe the tank transfer method is best in this situation? Might be too much stress on the fish tho.
I tried to feed him mysis mixed with brine soaked in garlic juice again today. He picks out the brine and spits out most of the mysis. If I soak brine in vitamins would that be an adequate diet on them alone?
