the size ot the QT depend on the quantity of the fish and the size you have.
normal it's beeter if you can get 20 gallon long tank.
and it's a good idea to run the tank all the time , like that you ready to treat immediately
sick fish and when you get new you can quaranty the fish befor you add him to the main display.
you don't need in the tank the airstone but if you can to add small power head it will be good , small lighting fixture , cover the back , and some decorate to give the fish hiding place.

I am about to set up a fuge and qt tank myself, I am going to get a 20 gal minimum and set it up as if i where going to use it for a display tank, just a little live rock, sand, power head ect! Keep it running all the time, partly because i will need someplace to hold my fish and such as i move my tank to the new stand! LOL gonna have to buy lots of beer to get my buddies interested in helping me!

Please take a look at the extensive posts in the FAQ Thread on setting up a QT.
If you plan to set up a 10 gal, then all your fish will need to be rather small [1-2 inches] that go into that tank.
