Quarantining a mandarin

I've been thinking about preparing my system for a mandarin goby in 2-3 months.

Just realized how do I quarantine it?? Do I need to make a QT with enough copepods etc to support it? I worry if it's inadequate it'll get sick and die in there anyway.

How big is your dt? Mandys are difficult fish in general. That said there fairly disease resistant due to there slime coat

Like jay said Mandy's are pretty disease resistant and for that reason many people put them straight into the DT...which in my opinion is best for them seeing as how the DT is likely going to have optimal condition for them over a QT...but on the other hand if you were really going to do it the right way you would have a QT tank that has been set up for a long time which would provide just as good of conditions as your DT...I have had zero luck so far over the course of 3 years I have failed with 3 of them...that being said I also live far from a pet store where I can observe the fish...I've always had to order them online and have just kind of gotten what they give me...anyways if I were to do it again I would be ordering from the divers den and putting the fish straight into my DT...in my case I'm not sure I can do this seeing as I already have 2 other dragonets...

Mine is the only fish I didn't QT. Because of their feeding issues I think it would be hard to QT a Mandy successfully. I'm sure it can be done.

These are not fish i would buy online. I'm 4 for 5 of success with them. The one bad one was thin to begin with and i gave it a shot. Target or spotted mandys are easier then green mandys to convert to frozen food. There more aggressive with eachother aswell. You want to buy an active round mandy. Not skinny with a sunken belly. Once home while floating the bag to temp acclimate i add a few brine shrimp frozen. In this enclosed and solitary environment all my mandys ate the shrimp. Imo its not so much they wont eat frozen food its that they have to A. Have time to get to/ eat it. B. Be given the chance to sample some frozen. Ie in the bag. Once brine is accepted frozen cyclopeese, mysis, prawn roe, even small pellets can be fed. With difficult fish live brine is often gobbled

Just my .02 If you MUST have a mandarin now and you want to QT it start producing your own pods by cultivating them in a brine shrimp hatchery. Do NOT feed live brine to many down sides.Make sure your frozen brine is gut packed.

Thanks for the input guys!

Mandy is 2-3 months down the line for me. But something good to think about, actually I just realized I have a wrasse so maybe not a good idea with it.

Working on teaching my sleeper goby to eat at the moment. It likes prepared food, but is too scared to come out during feeding time to get it, so I keep burying it in the sand near its den
