ok got it thanks, but i still have one more question?? could i just hook it up the the main filter of my tank? and ues that water also? or whould that be bad?? Because the main objective (for me) is to get it used to my main tank's water? So would it work?? :notsure: I like the idea any way, i'm gonna try to breed clown fish, so I'll need the tank anyway!!:happyfish :happyfish

I don't think you want to connect it to the main tank. you can use the water from the main tank though. That way you don't contaminate the main tank.

A q tank (yeah my spelling too) is used to isolate your new fish so they wont give anything to your established, healthy tank. For this you need a seperate tank. Medications should be given only to the sick fish in this smaller controlled enviroment. Kind of like a hospital.
It sounds more like you want a refuge. Not one like under most of our tanks put there just for macro, but a nice pretty one that sits next to your display. They can share the same water or not. That shouldn't matter for a while with breeding.
A few months ago someone did a great "clown breeding 101" on here. You should search for it. I think he covered everything in it.
