Hey Guys,
I just got my 90 gallon in and got the rock coming my way pretty soon, 90 pounds of it and adding 40 I have right now. I was wondering if I just put a Queen Juvi Angel in there, how long would I be able to keep this magnificent specie until it would eventually need a much bigger tank?

Queens can be a little tempermental about water peramaters, I would not use this beauty to cycle a tank with :scared: Give your tank 6mo befour you add anything that you cant sacrafice :happyfish

Sorry I didn't mean get it to cycle the tank, I will use my good ol' damsels to do that. Then eventually I will take them back out.
My question really is asking how long I could keep a Queen Juvi before it would get too big for the 90..

Many sources would say that a 90g is good for life for a queen angel, this site says 100g, but I think the modern "accepted" size is 125g which in the big scheme of things isnt much bigger than your 90g. It would depend highly on diet, but I think you'd be fine for atleast a few years, compared to the ever popular groupers, lionfish, and eels; angelfish grow VERRRRRRRY slow.

Jeez, I dunno about that. I have had my juvi Cortez for less than a year, and he's grown so fast that I can almost see it happening before my eyes!! ***) He was about equal to my flame angel when I first got him (who has also grown....a little) and now he dwarfs my flame and is catching up in size to my yellow tang who is a biggie!! The Cortez has started growing sort of a promenent forehead bulge and the tailfins are starting to morph into the square shape that will eventually be the points on the fins. I have also began to note color lightening slong his sides in certain light.
Do queens grow as fast? I give my Cortez Selcon, Zoecon, and Zoe Marine. I was told that my Cortez will eventually need a 250 Gal (he's in a 125 now) and it will probably need to happen within a year. Seeing his progress in the past year, I think I may believe that. Do Queens have a similar tank size requirement? (Sorry if I hijacked this thread...I wasn't sure how similar Queens and Cortez's were in terms of growth patterns!!)

Unless you set-up a bigger system now, you should pass on the larger angels until such time you have a system that can house the angel to adulthood.

Queen and cortez angels can get upto 18" but usually max off in the 7-8" range in the aquarium. I have heard that french, cortez, and gray angels grow fast, and I know queen angels grow and will most likely need a bigger tank in the future, but we arnt talking like in the aggressive forums where a bigger tank with be needed in 3 months. My snowflake moray went from pencil thickness and 6" to about 20" and 1.5" thick in less than a year and my porc puffer went from about 1" to well over 8" in the same time frame, NO angel will ever even come close to that kind of growth patter.

Yeah I went down to a slatwater fish store and they told me I could keep it for at least 2 years if I get it in Juvi state. Should be interesting to see. Once he gets stressed in the tank i'll let him go. Thanks for the advice guys.

Ya shouldn't use Damsels to cycle, but, oh nevermind, I don't care enough.
