Wow, the pictures are so amazing! Thank you so much for sharing them. I'm all the way across the country in California so this is a treat for me.

Why are the leafy sea dragons so expensive to care for?

wow i thought this thread went to sleep, guess not
the tour was fun, but it seemed like it flew by. i would have liked to have spent more time looking at the filtration etc, and less of the medical/ food wing. but with a mixed audience of reef gurus and know-nothings its probably hard to make a tour that everyone can get something out of.

keith: i couldn't even get a picture of how big the skimmer really was, the amount of plumbing above the reef is just crazy! if i had to guess its probably over 7' tall and 4' in diameter.
oceanlover: i guess the seadragons have a very strict diet of live foods that come from their habitat. i dont see why they dont start growing the food at the aquarium if they havent already.

The corals that were donated were by the warehouse my lfs gets the fish from. Its called sunpet. They provided half of the fish inverts and corals to the aquarium.

This is what happens when you have owned 1/2 of home depot and your name is Bernie Marcus, has 2 bil in the bank. Oh and down the street the other half of the home depot ownership owns that little thing called the GA Dome and the Falcons.

it must be nice being rich
. with all of the donations from bernie, it still didnt cover the cost of the entire aquarium. there are a few other sponsors.
gotta love philanthropy

I was just down there this past weekend and I already want to go back. I took a bunch of pictures but mine didn't turn out that well. I don't see how you got those pictures of the jellies.

I love the leafy sea dragons but my budget would never allow for a $100,000 annual food bill!
The Monterey Bay Aquarium in Caifornia has them too. They are my very favorite exhibit. I thought they were like seahorses but I'm sure seahorses don't cost $100,000 to fed annually!
