i have recently ordered a octopus 110 skimmer for a friends 29g DT. we have it in a 10g sump. when all hooked up and running. the bubbles are not really that high. the whole water level only reaches up to the octopus letters on the side of the skimmer. and these bubbles are really small to. some big, but generally small.
i do know there is a break in period, but i dont know for how long. does this seem rite to anyone with an octo skimmer.....thanx in advance....

Make sure that where the venturi is attatched to the side of the pump ther is no seal in there Mine came with a small gasket in there and well it stops the unit from sucking air into it. hope that this makes sense.

yes there is a break in period. i had to wait a few weeks before my nw150 broke in. it takes a while for the inside of the skimmer to get a slime on it. usually itll take 2-3 weeks before you see the bubbles rise. it takes 2-3 months for a skimmer to fully break in
not sure if there are mods for teh 110, but for the nw150 i did a meshmod and the venturi mod and some other mod to the elbow that connects to the pump

do you have the new style or the older one. can you take a pic? I have the brand new style and it was a little tricky at first but works great now.

set the water level just below the taper neck(black cone shaped) wait for 3-5 days before adjusting. It should start skimming in that time , and really get going after a couple weeks.

that depends on your particluar sump depth
head pressure on the pump varies with different water depths
