You can,, ive seen and they make intank fuges, the algae is the key, pods help if you have things that eat them but they are not detremental.

Usually a fuge is set up with this concept.
Macroalgae with lights on when DT lights are off to help offset the pH swings in the DT due to the light cycle. Some people just keep the fuge lights on 24/7
Macroalgae and the "mud" in the fuge both contribute quite a bit to nitrate removal in the tank. I have had two tanks with fuges with 0-5 ppm nitrate at any given point in time. Many of the times I test I get nothing.
Pods are good for our tanks. They spawn and create a food source for our specimens. The fuge allows for food for the pods to eat (algae and detritis) and gives them a safe haven to breed like bunnies.
If you are using a sump already, I would just try to figure a way to convert it into a fuge. Fuges make perfect sumps, IMO.

Agree completely.
My fuge is a joy to watch all by itself. The pods and mysis shrimp swim around and breed like crazy. My nitrates are always zero.

my nitrates are zero as well but i dont have a fuge or a sump, is it possable to be over populated with pods, i have so many of the big ones, not sure of there name, but a guy at the fish store said it was a sign of a healthy tank, it seems like in the last few months i have had so many like2 every square inch, i know i have alot more that i cant see but these are like the size of a grain of rice, is that normal

I wouldn't be concerned. I have never seen an overpopulation of pods hurt a tank.
Remember, pods are just small inverts. They don't remove nitrates. They actually are just like any fish... they create nitrates. If you have no trates and don't use a fuge you are doing well. I have never been able to get zero nitrate without one. You must be a good feeder (you don't overfeed) and do good cleaning practices. Sounds like you have found what works for you.
