question about a sea cucumber...

a few sea cucumbers are listed under inverts and i was wondering.. does it go under the "1 inch of fish per 10 gallons" or "1 inch of fish per 5 gallons" (whichever you prefer) or can i put one in my tank as an invert? thanks

You could put it in as an invert. It will cruise around at night eating leftovers and anything else off your sand. You may probably only see it once or twice a month, they hide during the day. A word of caution, be sure it dosen't get stressed by tankmates. It will disgorge its insides as a defence and possibly kill everything in your tank. I've had a tiger tail for about 5 months now and haven't had any problems with it.

Tiger Tails and Black Cucumbers are very low on the toxicity scale and I have not heard of them harming fish when they evicerate.
fyi - Cucumber toxins are only harmful to vertebrates.

Early on I had a tiger tail that got eaten by a big mean brittle star (I suppose the tiger tail wasn't doing well). Nothing negative happened as a result...other than I eventually got rid of that devil of a brittle star.

Sorry, forgot to answer the question.
IMO the extremely low metabolism and the clean-up nature of the "mopping" type Cucumbers means they should not count in the fish per gallon ration.
The filter feeders should be avoided and can be dangerous to fish.
