Question about a skimmer?

I just recently purchased an Aqua C Remora Protein Skimmer. My question is--The foam from the maxi-jet is it suppose to travel up the pipe and go into the collection box? This is my first skimmer. And how does it work properly?

the water is drawn in by the pump, gets pushed through the clear tube and gets mixed with air (spray induction)in the place where the tube goes into the body of the skimmer the mixure then goes through a few baffles allowing a longer contact time and the foam rises into the cup and the water goes over the overflow. take a flashlight and put it on one side of the body and look through the otherside and you can see how it works

I thought the foam rised all the way into the collection cup, it seems to be rising about 1inch it the tube to the collection cup

How long have you had it running? Skimmers need to break in before they start pulling stuff out. I have a Remora as well. Trust me, once it's broken in it will start working...a lot.

Did you clean the skimmer out really well before installing it? I gave mine a good rinse when I got it and it started pulling stuff out that first day.
